Your Story - Victoria

In the beginning…

This is the kind of story that embodies how Sophie Flanagan Fine Jewellery was born and why the saying ‘every piece tells a story’ is so apt! 

Victoria had inherited her mother’s wedding ring, keeper ring and diamond cluster engagement ring, and wanted to have them redesigned into one new ring so that she could wear it daily. Her mother had worn these rings for over 45 years, so there was some natural wear and tear to them, but you could tell they were cherished pieces. Due to the sentimental nature of the rings, Victoria wanted to re-use the gold, platinum, and diamonds in the new ring.

The Plot

We knew that the new ring would be based around the cluster setting of the old diamond engagement ring and then it was a case of how to bring it all together. We dismantled the rings, and it allowed Sophie to play about with diamond placement and show Victoria some options. Initially we kept the two small diamonds from the keeper ring on the shoulders, but Victoria decided, after seeing the first design, that they should be brought up into the main cluster as well as she felt like they looked left behind otherwise! We also looked at some different shank designs, one which saw the head more ‘perched’ on the band and another which saw the shoulders sweep up to the head. After some amends, Victoria was happy with the final cluster and shank design, so it was off to the workshop for the transformation of this very special heirloom jewellery redesign.

The Story Continues

When Victoria saw it for the first time, she was thrilled. She promised that she would try to take it off to do any gardening, but we’ve heard rumours that this hasn’t happened! Her mother was also happy to see the rings redesigned and reimagined so Victoria will wear it for many years to come. Now, when people compliment Victoria on her it, she can tell them the story behind this unique ring and why it’s so important to her. 

I’ve loved these diamonds since I was tiny and wanted a ring that was a modern update on this stunning piece that I have known and loved my entire life. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome! Thank you Sophie!
