Every story starts somewhere, and in this case, it was with a special birthday milestone. Magalie was turning 30 and her husband wanted to get her a piece of jewellery that she could treasure but wear every day. Together, they got in touch and started to talk through the kinds of styles and types of jewellery that Magalie liked. They opted for a gold bracelet and then it was time to define and refine!
We considered looking at second hand bracelets as well as bespoke, so the first task was to get an idea of styles. Magalie had a few suggestions and there was one second hand bracelet that caught our attention. Ultimately, we decided that although the second hand one was beautiful, it wasn’t quite right. So, we tweaked the concept. Made it a bit thinner, less weighty, more secure. Then we had to consider the type of gold they wanted – yellow gold, yes, but what karat? They have a different hue to them, and some prefer the more subtle tones of 9k to the ore yellowy buttery colour of 18k. Magalie opted for 9k and once we had the dimensions perfect, it was off to the studio…
Casting a link bracelet for a bespoke piece means that each segment must be perfect so that it all fits together as it should. Sometimes, there is a porosity in the cast and the pieces can’t be used, so more is cast. It wasn’t a quick process, but getting every link piece perfect, was key.
Once the bracelet was back from hallmarking and was all ready to go, we hit on delivery logistics! Magalie doesn’t live in the UK, so we had to factor this in! Finally, the bracelet successfully made its way to Magalie, and the wait was worth it. Magalie wears it daily, and it will always be a visual reminder of her special milestone jewellery gift from her husband. One day, it’ll get passed to the next generation and there will always be the story that goes with it.
The bracelet is beautiful and I wear it everyday. A timeless classic. Thank you!
