Your Story - Emma & Pri

In the beginning...

Being asked to create wedding bands is a very special request. These pieces of metal will adorn the fingers of the recipient for years and are a symbol of love between two people, so it’s a great honour.
 
Emma approached Sophie after her fiancé was struggling to find the type of wedding ring he wanted. The wedding band was to be Emma’s gift to Pri, so she wanted to have something that was special, and he would be happy to wear for the rest of his life. 

The Plot

Ahead of the first call, Emma sent through some initial ideas on which we could base our discussions. Pri had mentioned he liked the look of blackened metal and the use of either dark sapphire’s (to match Emma’s engagement ring) or black diamonds. We discussed the pros and cons of using blackened metal, namely that it has the potential to chip or scratch which will reveal the true colour underneath. This was something that they hadn’t been made aware of previously and they didn’t want the time and expense of potentially either re-plating or fixing any issues if this occurs. So, we talked about using platinum as an alternative as it has a slightly softer finish than white gold and will still look striking with the use of black diamond/sapphires. 
Several options were drawn up and quickly whittled down to one. A personal note was to be engraved on the inside of the ring and once the spacing had been decided and the black diamonds purchased, it was off to the workshop!

The Story Continues

In December 2023, Sophie handed over the ring to Emma and Pri ahead of their wedding in March. Emma said the look on Pri’s face meant she knew it was perfect. The ring forms part of their unique bond and story and will be treasured for many years to come.

"Commissioning Sophie to design and make my husband's wedding band was such a good choice. We had searched high and low for a band that he loved - we had even put deposits on a couple. But I could tell each time that his heart wasn't in it.

Within a few weeks we had the finished ring and as soon as he opened the box I knew from the look on his face that Sophie had worked her magic."
