Cut

A common misconception is that cut only refers to the shape of a diamond (round, oval, pear, marquise etc).

In fact it refers to how well light interacts with the facets of the stone (and shape is a factor). This is arguably the most important of the 4Cs as the cut directly affects the sparkle of a diamond.

Diamond cut is indeed crucial as it not only impacts the sparkle of the diamond but also its clarity, colour, and overall appearance. The skill involved in cutting a diamond to achieve the perfect proportions, symmetry, and polish is essential for maximizing its brilliance, fire, and scintillation. A well-cut diamond allows light to reflect precisely through the crown, while a poorly cut diamond can appear dull due to light not being properly reflected back. Therefore, the cut is a fundamental aspect to consider when choosing a diamond.
