Jewellery Trends in 2024: The Must- Have Styles

Jewellery can be timeless, or it can be on trend. There is nothing wrong with being inspired by what is trending and either wanting an in-vogue piece or incorporating some of the style in a more ageless fashion. Each avenue will remind you of that moment in time, what you were doing, where you were living and how your life was, so let’s delve into what some of the big looks will be in 2024.

Layered Necklaces

Layering is more often considered as clothing terminology, but having long gemstone bead necklaces layered is a look that was big with designers like Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton for SS24. As part of this, briolette gemstones were key. Briolette is a style of gemstone cut which is like an elongated faceted pear. It is then often drilled to hang as a bead in any type of jewellery but often necklaces or earrings. Due to the way they are cut, they have unique facets which give them amazing shimmer and light refraction.

Long beaded necklaces can be made up using birthstones for a commemorative feel or other less expensive gemstones like quartz and fluorite for a bright summery look.

Long, Heavy Link Chain

If chunky gold link chains are your thing, then this trend is perfect for you! The style of the chain can be classic like a mariner, oval curb or figaro link, but you could also look at a straightforward chunky curb. Length is down to personal preference but a 30” chain gives you options to layer or wear singularly.

Chokers

If the catwalk is anything to go by, then Vivienne Westwood, Valentino and Dior are all for the choker in SS24. The beauty about this trend is that you can look at different options for the choker; full metal or something like ribbon or leather with a pendant adorning it. This mix of textures and finishes allows either a spiky or streamlined look as the result. Having a bespoke choker or adornment for a choker is easy and could allow you the opportunity to change up the pendant part as you see fit to match an outfit.

Large and Long Earrings

Large hoops and long earrings were big at the fashion shows and provide an opportunity for a stunning look against slick backed hair. A hoop earring can be plain or with some texture or stones added to give it a more night-time look. The diameter of the hoop is entirely personal, but the weight of the earring would need to be considered. As for long earrings, singular, or pair, they can be understated or dramatic, but again weight would be a factor, Waterfall diamond earrings, or chain link with a drop, there is a huge amount of detail that can make these earrings bespoke to your taste.

Pearls of Power

Pearls are a staple of any wardrobe but for SS24, they have evolved to be large, dramatic and very noticeable. From earrings to necklace strands and rings, a large pearl or a cluster of pearls is a very on trend look for next year. You don’t have to go super bold, but a play on the classics with a twist (maybe even some diamonds or gems added to the design) will make your piece stand out amongst the crowd.

Statement Rings

A one up from the cocktail ring, statement rings are bigger, bolder and blingier. Think crystals or large chunks of stones like amethyst in asymmetric cuts and multiple large set stones. These are very much evening or event wear and only hardy stones on the Mohs scale should be considered. Due to the large nature and edgy design, you really would have a unique ring on your hand.
